We all agree on the necessity of compromise.
We just can't agree on when it's necessary to compromise.

Lord of the Rings Online

The road goes ever on and on - and in case you weren’t paying attention Lord of the Rings Online is going into Open Beta today or tomorrow.

They had this to say on the LOTRO forums:

Regarding the Open Beta start time: There is no start time.

There’s no spoon, either.

We are not announcing the time the servers will open - this is a lesson we have learned from previous launches. However, for the sake of those who were planning to stay up all night tonight waiting: Get some sleep. You’ll need it for TOMORROW night! We plan to have the servers open by early afternoon Eastern time. That’s as close as we can say.

Also, the launcher might show some wonkiness between now and then, as we make changes and updates and stuff. All those last-minute tweaks.

And later they said this:

We are proud to announce that with the launch of Open Beta for The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, both the Account Management and Technical Support Teams will be available 7 days a week from Noon -10:00PM EDT for phone, email, and chat coverage.

This extended coverage will begin Friday, March 30th at 12:00PM EDT. Please visit http://support.turbine.com to view our Knowledge Base and/or submit an email request. The Account Management team is available via email, and phone at 781.407.4020. Technical support is available via live chat and email.

Welcome to the Open Beta!

If your in the beta let us know what it’s like. I for one am curious of Turbine’s results after Dungeons and Dragons Online. While the game looked beautiful I was disappointed in the overall result. It lacked the D&D feel and still had too much of the “Old Skool” MMPORG style of play. I hope Lord of the Rings Online is a mover and shaker but we’ll have to wait and see - and then hope for Warhammer: Age of Reckoning…
