We all agree on the necessity of compromise.
We just can't agree on when it's necessary to compromise.

This movie wasn’t really what I thought it would be.

Which was a good thing. In the comercial it comes off as an SNL like parody of the sitting president. Something that bothered me. Not that I am against making fun of G-Dub but to do a two hour feature length smack job of a sitting president is pretty disrespectful.

Fortunately it was a little bit more than that.

Now having said that he’s not painted in a favorable light. The movie takes us through snapshots of his life and some of the events that have shaped him. By the end of the movie I actually felt closer to him. While the movie does bash him a bit it also humanizes him. You can see where he is coming from.

By the end I really wasn’t hostile or resentful towards President Bush II himself, I was more upset with myself and the system for allowing this nincompoop to be elected in the first place.

Politics for a long long time has taken advantage of the fact that the general public is too busy, and or lazy to dig deeper into a story. It’s not enough just to have people come out in vote in big numbers. Those same people have to get involved enough to be able to educate themselves on the issues at hand, find out about the candidates, look into the history behind the ballot initiatives. Rather than just listen to the attack adds from both sides of an issue.

As a younger man I didn’t do that. My first couple of elections I just voted for what seemed popular at the time without really digging into the facts or issues. It seems painfully obvious that I wasn’t alone in this.

We can’t just keep blaming businessmen and politicians for the problems in this country. We really do have the power to keep things moving. We have the power to change things for the better, the American people though have failed just as much as the people at the top to keep an eye on things and make sure things are running smoothly. We got soft and comfortable and now things are falling apart.

Think about that. Before you go out to vote this time around read up on what is going on in the world around you. Don’t just vote blindly.
